Thundering Ground Bison Ranch has been directly impacted by the wildfires in our province and they need your help.
Often in times of crisis it is very difficult to ask for help, or you don’t know where to start.
Our community in Leduc County is heavily invested in agriculture and we want to help one of our farmers in need. While we won’t be able to help all the farmers affected by the wildfires we wanted to start with one - Thundering Ground Bison Ranch.
Larissa from Thundering Ground Bison was our first farmer in our Old Red Barn farm store and has been with us since day one. She is a good, kind hearted, hard working farmer.
Three quarters of her farm burnt down due to the wildfires in Wildwood and she is going to need some help. As the information comes in we will keep you updated on how can help.
These are some current needs:
She has 35 animals that have just calved, and the pasture has been burned. She is going to need donations in cash or in hay bale form to get feed for her animals. She needs large round grassy mixed hay.
The fences have been burned so she is going to need fencing materials, posts and wire.If you have connections to a lumber company or COOP AG Store to help source this please let us know. When we can get in to fence, she will need a few able people to help so you can sign up for that.
The cabin on the property has been burned. So, we are looking for funds to purchase or build a replacement cabin with bed and wood stove.
We are also looking for a qualified individual to help run the Thundering Ground Bison booth every Saturday at the Old Strathcona Farmer's Market.
If you would like to sign up for the market, clean-up and fencing help please contact Melissa here
